PulPaper 2010 at the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre 1-3 June 2010
Top speakers and an international tradeshow

The seventh tradeshow for the pulp, paper and paperboard industries PulPaper 2010 will fill the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre on 1-3 June 2010. This is by far the most international exhibition of the year, as almost half of the event's exhibitors and over a third of the visitors have traditionally been foreign.
š
-The tradeshow's sales have held up well during the global economic downturn and sales of exhibition spaces are progressing with surprising speed. Most companies recognise the importance of investing in marketing and the maintenance of customer relationships also in difficult times, says Project Manager Marcus BergstrÃm of Adforum.

BergstrÃm also identifies some challenges, however.

- The recession has clearly prompted some companies to postpone their decisions and many companies have given their go-ahead to participating a lot later than they did in the case of our previous events, he says.

The PulPaper tradeshow is being organised jointly by Adforum and the Finnish Paper Engineers' Association, the Finnish Fair Corporation and AEL, a centre of technical training.

The previous PulPaper event was arranged in Helsinki in 2007 and it attracted over 16,102 visitors from 78 different countries. Almost half of the orders placed at the tradeshow were destined for the international markets. Areas of interest included paper and paperboard machines, pulp manufacture, pumps and valves, process management and quality control, maintenance technology, energy and environmental protection, chemicals, transports and materials handling.

Top speakers participating in panel discussions

The theme of the international conference being arranged in conjunction with PulPaper 2010 will be Implementing the new rise.š This main theme will be divided into half-day sessions, which will focus on, for example, the forest industry's bioenergy issues, cost-effectiveness and resourcing, solutions for sustainable development and technological breakthroughs.

A panel discussion on the opening day Tuesday 1 June will feature a host of top names. The panel will be chaired by the philosopher Maija-Riitta Ollila, PhD, and participants will include Speaker of the Parliament Sauli NiinistÃ, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland President & CEO Erkki LeppÄvuori and professor emeritus Johan Gullichsen.
